The Spring Rose Festival at Ludwig's Roses - Roses and Volkswagens

The Spring Rose Festival at Ludwig's Roses is one of my yearly highlights.  Who cannot look forward to being spoiled in such a special way? This year we were treated to a rose inspired menu paired with Kleine Zalze Bubbles and Wine.  The food was beautifully prepared by the on-site venue; The Rose Shed, led by chef Tony Barnett.

And to top it all of, each of us were gifted a 'Forever Delight' rose plant and a bottle of their Pure Rose Water.

The official festival is on until Sunday, please treat yourself to this amazing assault on the senses, the rose smell is intoxicating, the floral decor details is something to be admired and the collection of VW cars and toy car collection is not something you will probably ever see for free in your life again (and also an excuse to drag hubby with!).

If you cannot make it this weekend, Heike (Mr. Ludwig's daughter) tells me that the roses is best viewed in the month of October, and they even have a tractor that drive visitors through the rose fields! So you can take your ouma and oupa too.

The festival is held to celebrate this beautiful time of the year when all the rose plants are in full bloom after Winter, and also to introduce the new rose releases for the year.

This year the new rose plants are the Bruce Fordyce and the Elize Cawood.  The Bruce Fordyce named after the great Comrades man because the plant was developed for its stamina - how appropriate.

The Ludwig's team decided the decorate the venue using the theme tropical and roses, and although unsure if it will work, it turns out it works together amazingly well.  There are so many flowers and plants in this hall, that it really felt as though we were seated in a jungle somewhere, the pelting rain outside and cool, vibey island music in the background added the the tropical feeling.

We took so many pictures, and not one of them is of the same thing, the detail and amount of effort that went into the flower arrangements is just wow.  The hall also smells amazing, a rose scented cloud that will really lift your spirits.

Thank you to my partner in crime, Marethe.com for taking these beautiful pictures.

And thank you to Ludwig's Roses for this special treat and may you have a wonderful festival!

PS**  The Rose shed is also one of our listed venues in Pretoria, and it is really is such a beautiful venue, nestled between all the lovely rose plants, accompanied by lovely food.
